Totally Terrifc Tiki T

I guess I'm in the mood for the unexpected and I don't think I'm using unexpected lightly here.  First the Tequila Sunrise cement/drink mixer and now friends,  Doug Weigel's "Tiki" or to some "The Polynesian Spectacle"  This ride blurs the lines between art and automobile.  I was fortunate enough to see this ride in person and was able to chat with Mr. Weigel for a few minutes at the GoodGuys Southwest Nats a while back.  When I asked about his inspiration he humbly replied,  "I get an idea and it just grows from there."  He's a self described "local guy with a bad habit".  As a car builder and working artist, he is a steel sculptor,  Weigel's work is a genius blend of imagination and innovation.

Take a gander at this completely handbuilt one of a kind 1910 Ford T.   As the Polynesians would say that's one lolo ka'a - crazy car for us Yanks.

By the by this baby won the Go For The Gold Award in 2010 at the Darryl Starbird's National Rod and Custom Car Show.  And he won $20,000 for his efforts.  Not bad for being a creative genius!

Til the next time - Keep on Kruzin!
