The Surf Seeker - Breaking All The Rules

There is coloring outside the lines and then there's annihilating the lines and drawing your own dang picture.  Well friends, one Mr. Ron Berry decided he would spend his retirement drawing his own dang pictures.  His own pictures in hot rodding terms means hand building custom rides the exact way he wants!  Surf Seeker is his latest creation and a well deserving winner of a KruzinUSA SEMA Super Star winner.

I guess VW purists would insist that this van be called a "tribute" rather than a true VW since there only a few true VW bits and pieces from a '65 bus.  Under the "Seeker's" incredible skin there are some suspension pieces from a '65 type 2 van and it runs a modified air-cooled flat four engine, with the type 1 supercharger and makes around 200hp.  The rest of this beauty well, hand-built from steel for starters, rolling on 24's with disc brakes and independent rear suspension.  I'd also like to point out the nod to one of my fav micro/minis - the Isetta - esque front end opening for a true grand entrance.  "True" WV or not this ride is pure awesome.  The Surf Seeker is the perfect marriage of imagination and innovation artfully created to pay homage to Berry's affinity with the surf culture;  heck, he's been surfing since the '60's!  Great tribute man!

From an article on street legal tv.com Berry is quoted as saying "I've always entertained the idea of building a car that was a cartoon car.  You ain't getting any younger - let's do it."  I for one sure am glad he did.  I just could not get enough of this thing at SEMA.  This ride is simply unbelievable, you just want to grab your flip flops and surf board and head to the beach.  Berry is a true visionary who is clearly enjoying his retirement.  Making his car dreams a reality is the headline for getting the most out of your retirement 101.  The Surf Seeker is an oh so modern twist on classic car customizing.  High five and hang 10 Ron Berry to you and your SEMA Super Star Winning Surf Seeker!

Talk about one of a kind ride, holy smokes the Surf Seeker is almost other worldly.  Don't take my word for it, enjoy this beauty for yourself.  Now the upcoming videos are not mine but you just gotta love "sharing" from YouTube.  I for one am super thrilled to see this baby in action and thank you Mr. Berry for posting the vids.

I'm sorry Mr. Berry the Surf Seeker is way way more than coolish.  Talk about the understatement of the year!

I don't normally do this because ALL of our SEMA Super Star Winners have many more than one amazing ride, but I just had to give you a peek at one more hand built Ron Berry creation.  This baby is called Shorebreak, it's build precedes the Surf Seeker by a few years, so you can see Mr. Berry has been using his retirement time very constructively.  Oh does this guy has a vision!  Looking at these two builds you can clearly see Mr. Berry is a true creative and innovative genius, (and he has more in his stable if you can believe!).
