Meltdown Drags Gassers
The Gasser portion of the Meltdown Drags was a real treat. I'm north of 30 and south of 50 so that puts me at an age where I was never able to experience the "good old days" of drag racing first hand. The days before corporate sponsorship, when you wrenched during the week and raced on the weekend, a simpler time for just about everything, drag racing included. Well, I think that my time at the Meltdown Drags was the closest I'm ever going to get to the "good old days" of drag racing and the Gasser "wars" portion of the day epitomized that bygone era. As the announcer said, "there hasn't been this many Willys at the track since the late 60's." Let me tell you it was way cool and an awesome glimpse back to a time that was.
I'm sorry to say that I'm experiencing technical difficulties with the video of the Gassers I prepared. Rather than wait to post my blog I'll wait on the video and hopefully be able to post it ASAP! For now have some fun with these stills.
