This is a first for me, are you ready? My blog was printed in a National magazine and I'm just tickled pink! The latest issue of KKOA Trendsetter magazine has a reprint of my blog on the KKOA Leadsled Spectacular. I'm just positively giddy and I told my friend Too Tall (he's the kat that told me I hit the big time) that Santa came early for me this year and my present is on page 6 of Vol.29 No. 5.
Let me give a huge cyber hug to the kat or kitten that sent along my blog to the folks at KKOA. Thank you , thank you, thank you for helping me spread the good word. And a big fat hello to all my new friends at KKOA. Kustoms and Kruzin need to stick together!
I thought I should repost my blog so all of my new friends can see the pleasing pics that accompanied the blog. Thanks again!
Hey there Guys and Dolls, guess who had an ace up her sleeve. My Ace is a Kat from the skool of kool and is the first contributor to the KruzinSUA Nation. He generously brought us coverage from the KKOA Leadsled Spectacular in Salina, Kansas.
Don, aka Too Tall - he's only 6'8" - is the real deal and I'm not using real deal lightly. He's been there and he's done that - twice. He knows everyone and everyone knows him. While he's at it all he's ice baby, I'm talking one hip Kat. He walks the walk and talks the talk and Oh Daddy - O I'm a fan. There's no faking it here, he's the same dude he was in '65 when he was turning out custom vans before there were custom vans - you dig. He'd give you the shirt off his back or the pictures from his camera, for that matter. For Don it's not "the way it used to be", for him it's just the way it is, the way it's always has been, it's just in his bones, he's dyed in the wool man, he is the Real Deal. This is his '49 Merc. and this baby is a phoenix rising. About 5 years ago Don lived every Hot Rodders worst nightmare; after trying everything he could to stop it, Don had to helplessly standby as his Merc. was engulfed in flames; it was totaled. Fast forward 5 years and with only 3 months under the tires on his up from the ashes complete rebuild he drove it the 1,678 miles to and from the Salina show. Yah it was 117' but his A/C blows at 37' , I did say this dude is - KOOL!
KKOA has been the authority for years in the Kustom world and it shows when the likes of Bo Huff, Darryl Starbird, Gene Winfield and oh about 20 other leadsled major domo builders show up to the show in Salina to visit with fans and show off their latest projects. This show was big time, fat city baby. It was 40 acres of candy colored customs each wilder than the next. So cuff your jeans, grab a pack of Luckys and a PBR and check out the cherry chariots that were out at the 2012 Leadsled Spectacular. By the way, I've already made my reservations for next year.
The full gallery can be seen in the "Most Recent Show" gallery you're gonna wanna check this one out.
Wanna share your shows? Send me your pics and maybe you can join the likes of Too Tall and have your work shared with thousands of Members and Friends of the KruzinUSA Nation. I can post your pics but the Kool is all on you.
Don, a very sincere thank you for sharing your time, your knowledge and your pictures.
