Heartland Nat's Wrap Up
How do you summarize a record breaking event other than ya, it was totally awesome. According to Goodguys over 4,300 cars cruised into the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines with an excess of 75,000 spectators - um Holy Smokes guys! In Goodguys' world Sundays mean awards. Now you know everyone all are winners in my book and I'm one of those that would give a thanks for showing up award to everyone. However, our friends at Good Guys with the help of their sponsors and host club like to pick a handful of the best to to give awards to. And it was a darn good thing Roger Burman was racing Auto Cross so he could be enlisted to select the Builder's Choice award winning rides. I've said it before and obviously will say it again, just don't know how they can choose with soooo many righteous rides out on display. It must have been tough but here are just a few of the 97 some odd winners from the Heartland Nats. Oh and that '56 Chevy convertible that I had in my last video, ya that's up for Custom Rod of the Year. Who knows how to pick 'em.
There were a couple thousand Good Guys and Gals out and about on Sunday filling the fairgrounds and capping off a fantastic Fourth of July weekend with a bang.
All American Sunday brought some awesome competitors out to the Auto Cross track. Can you say VW van with a small block?
Crazy Mustang Convertible.
Making my day was the Morris Mini hitting the track.
Get prepared, I have so much AutoCross footage that I am going to inundate you with it over the next few weeks. If I can't get enough of AutoCross I'm sure you must feel the same way.
Now with a name like Pony Girl you may think that I might have a slight affinity for a certain type of ride, you can use your imagination. For some reason, other than it's totally awesome, this one winner really caught my fancy.
Stay tuned friends, this was one show that was chock full of awesomenss and I will be bringing you more and more in the weeks to come.
Til the next time - Keep on Kruzin!
