Crazy 'Bout a Mercury
I believe Mr. Alan Jackson had it right when he crooned he was "crazy bout a Mercury". It seems nearly everyone has a soft spot for the '49, '50, and '51 Mercury, especially the custom guys. Customizing these babies started almost instantly. in 1953 the Barris brothers built "the most famous custom car ever, the Hirohata Merc. It's said that the famous brothers with the Hirohata Marc build "set a style and attitude that had a momentous effect on custom car builders" and I believe the cool customs that I have come across in my travels clearly embody this. Although sometimes elusive, I can go several shows with nary a Merc in sight, I have seen a few in my day. I thought I would try to gather as any as I could and show them all off at once. These babies come from Arizona to Idaho to Kentucky to Florida and many points in between. Bone stock or customized to within an inch of the ground Mercs are clearly woven into the fiber of love affair we have with ours and others rides.
Let me tell you I'd like to buy me a Mercury and cruise it up and down the road too!
A BIG welcome to all our new friends from the first annual All American Nationals down in Kissimmee FL. Be sure and show us what the Sunshine State has to offer!
Til the next time - Keep on Kruzin!
