Amboy Depot Days Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show
The small farming community of Amboy, Illinois morphed a bustling metropolis during the Amboy Depot Days Car, Truck and Motorcycle show. The town of al little over 2,500 fine folks was overrun with internal combustion and gear heads; numbers climbing into the tens of thousands. It was a sight, spectators 9 and 10 deep cruising around the automotive finery. I'd be hard pressed to think of an event that I've attended that was as heavily "spectated" as Amboy was. The variety of rides rivaled that of a national event, and a big national event at that. It was a fantastic show and well worth the ride.
Now, you can't talk about the Amboy Depot Days Show without mentioning the outrageous 50/50 they have. Are you ready for this, the payout was over $74,000. Yep that's right one lucky Amboy resident walked away with 74 thousand and change. Oh my goodness gracious. Now if they can bottle that recipe for a successful 50/50 they would be rolling in it. And the awesome thing about this 50/50, after the show costs are covered, all - ALL the money goes back into the town of Amboy. You'd be hard pressed to find a greater spirit of good will than that of these fine folks.
Like I said, this was a great show and I know I'll be headed back, I bet the 50/50 goes over 200 grand next year. Make you way out there and see for yourself. Now that wouldn't be a bad payday for hanging out at an awesome car show, would it?
Take a gander at this great, great show.
For those of you that have two wheels in your heart rather than four here is a number for you. How's about 4,000 motorcycles in attendance at the Depot Days Show, it is after all it's the Depot Days Car, Truck and Motorcycle show. FOUR Thousand bikes unbelievable, right! Have a looksy at what a gathering of those proportion looks like.
